Romantically interested in Leo Guy

I met this guy online, he is "oh so gorgeous", and I want things to move to the next level but you know how Leo's are they don't like being told what to do. He is playful and funny, and I really like that about him but he also has been hurt by his ex and I guess is kind of twice shy about venturing out and starting another relationship. So any advice on my next move, should I just stay as a friend for now and reveal later?
