Seducing Cancer

There are two distinct ways to seduce a Cancer. The first is to tune into them, and the second is to catch them at a time when they're on a natural high.

Depending on your timing this can make them incredibly easy, or incredibly difficult to seduce. This is the first of many contradictions which surround this complex sign.

Before we reach for the handcuffs and baby oil lets talk about their personality briefly. This is possibly the least understood sign, and understanding them will make things much easier...

Cancers are complicated folk!

The good news is that Cancers are very predictable and consistent people once you know what to expect from them. The bad news is that this is very much a "love them or hate them" personality with very little middle ground.

These are emotional and caring people, typically very passionate though often very reserved until they know and trust you. They're super intuitive, and typically very sensitive to fake people.

Most of them feel that they have been stung by partners in the past and (especially when older) can put up some fairly high walls due to this, and be fairly pessimistic when it comes to evaluating potential partners.

The good stuff

In many ways Cancers are the perfect lover. Loyal, caring, supportive, fun, passionate, practical and sexy. If your personality works with theirs (more on this in a sec) they are very likely to be perfect for you.

No other sign can excel at so many facets of a mature relationship while keeping everything fresh and exciting. This is one sign who is very likely to be both a reliable homemaker/provider and an animal in the bedroom.. a rare combo indeed!

The bad stuff

A lot has been written about Cancer and their mood swings. As with most personality traits you can choose to look on these as a good or a bad thing (most Cancers are well aware of them and sick of hearing about it, so this isn't a good early topic of conversation)

Their moods make them very exciting lovers, offering a variety of needs, desires and preferences at different times. If you're able to empathize with and enjoy meeting your partners needs as they arise then they make exceptionally satisfying partners (Scorpio and Pisces are perfect here)

It's fair to say however that Cancer is a partner who needs a little "looking after" so if you're too self centered (Aries and Leo beware!) you may want to think carefully and be prepared to change in this area (as it's really not optional). In exchange they are nearly always willing to nurture you, probably more than your parents did!

You probably know from your own personality if this is the type of partner you want. While very occasionally you may find an independent Cancer (perhaps with very heavy fire or air influences in their natal chart) the vast majority fit the above generalization.

Cancers and relationships

Cancer's take relationships seriously. They give their all, and they expect the same in return. This isn't a good person to expect a casual relationship from without a lot of heartache and stress on both sides. This leads to an interesting point about Cancers...

They change as they get older. Seducing a 20 year old Cancer is very different to seducing a 40 year old Cancer. They start out reasonably trusting, and after some inevitable bad experiences end up highly suspicious. No other sign goes through such a radical and predictable transformation in this respect.

Cancers and Romance

If I had a dollar for every time someone said that you just need to be romantic to seduce a Cancer. It may be true sometimes, but it's really missing the point, so to go off at another brief tangent:

At times Cancer's feel particularly alone and vulnerable. At those times they want to feel loved and secure. Leaving a love note under their windshield wiper will carry more impact than a candlelit dinner if it's done at the right time.

If you're intuitive enough to pick up on when they're feeling this way you can score massive romance points even if you're not a romantic person. If you are naturally romantic that's okay too, but the point is they don't need a romantic partner in the traditional sense.

Timing is everything here. Leaving a love note when they're feeling on top of the world and wanting to laugh and party won't score a fraction of the points. This highlights the real challenge with Cancers...

How to seduce a Cancer man or woman

More than anything they want a partner who can empathize with them, and seducing a Cancer (in the long term) is as simple as tuning into them.

In the early stages of a relationship this is as simple as communicating well. If you aim to become their best friend you will be 90% of the way there. If you don't feel like you could be best friends then it should be a warning sign for both of you.

From that point onwards it's as simple as continuously demonstrating that you care. If this comes naturally to you it will seem effortless and you'll join the Cancer fan club!

Getting your Cancer into bed

It should be apparrent by now that this isn't the best sign for a casual fling. One or both you is very likely to get hurt.

This can be a surprise to some people as Cancers can be highly outgoing and spontaneous when in the right mood. If through luck, judgment, or persistence your timing is good it can be surprisingly easy to get such a deep and loyal sign naked.

If this happens however, don't congratulate yourself too soon! There's a very good chance you will face the above challenges before you're offered a second sample...
